Australian Tour Announce 2019

Monday, June 24, 2019

Next stop on our World Tour 2019 – Australia!

Our favourite day of the year, along with releasing new music, is always announcing an Australian Tour. It feels great to be finally bringing the songs from Stolen Diamonds home (and throwing in old favourites too of course). Expect to see us doing a lap of the country in Oct/Nov.

More shows will be added, so if you live in a state were there are no shows announced, hold tight and you will hear more soon… Also note that Brisbane and Hobart shows are all ages, as well as a couple of the festivals.

International Touring Grant Recipient Announced

Thursday, May 16, 2019

At the end of last year we announced that we had created and financed an International Touring Grant in conjunction with The Australia Council for the Arts.  A massive number of applications were received, and we convened in April to determine the one most befitting what we hoped the grant would achieve; the start of a hopefully long term overseas career for an artist/group.

Today we are very happy to announce that the recipient of this grant funding is composer, performer and cultural practitioner of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, Jessie Lloyd

Stolen Diamonds – Out Now

Friday, February 15, 2019

Today is the day we have all been waiting for.  Stolen Diamonds is OUT NOW all over the world, on our independent label Two Shoes Records.  Massive thanks go to Jan Skubiszewski who Produced and Engineered this album (and the previous 2).  We will be hitting the road in 2019 to play these new songs (and old favs) around the world, so we hope to see you singing along somewhere out there.  If you missed the “Making of The Music Premiere”, you can watch it here to get an insight into the song writing and development, and recording process.

Stolen Diamonds – Making of The Music & Live Q&A

Monday, February 11, 2019

Enjoy a private audience with The Cat Empire, Producer Jan Skubiszewski, and music journalist Michael Dwyer, as they distil how the songs from Stolen Diamonds came to life. The Premiere of Stolen Diamonds: The Making of the Music will provide unique personal insight into the band and their dynamics, and how musically masterful they truly are. Join a live Q&A with band members at the end of the Premiere to have your questions about the album answered.

To accommodate the global fanbase we will present two virtual Premieres of the video, so that everyone has the chance to join a Q&A with the band.

The Cat Empire Busking Competition

Friday, February 1, 2019

We have realised over time that many of our supporters are musicians in their own right.  (That’s why we recently announced our own International Touring Grant for Australian bands). Todays idea is for musos all over the world.

Last time we released an album we spent the afternoon busking around our home town of Melbourne, and we wished we could have done it in every city around the world.  That’s where you (musicians) come in…We can’t possibly get everywhere to launch Stolen Diamonds, so we are asking you to busk with our new songs wherever you are in the world on the week (Fri-Fri) starting Feb 15.

The Cat Empire International Touring Grant

Thursday, January 17, 2019

This one is for all the Australian Musicians we know are in our tribe. We are proud to announce a new International Touring Grant in collaboration with the Australia Council for the Arts. Without an international audience it would have been almost impossible for us to have the career success and longevity we’ve enjoyed, which is why we wanted to create a career-changing grant to allow an Australian musician or group performing original contemporary music to tour internationally.

As well as financial support, we will provide a one-on-one mentioning opportunity with members of the band and our Manager,
