Band News: The Umbrella Story

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

I don’t have many details at hand about the last few days of the last tour that I never blogged about. Sorry guys. It was a bit of a blur really. A Canadian, wintry one. But there are a few loose ends I should tie up.

Reviews have been pouring in for CINEMA

Scene Magazine:
“With a collective sigh of relief the world is once again supplied with the goodness that is The Cat Empire…Ten stars to this one”
The Australian:
“The character of every song on the band’s aptly named new studio album is explored with the same elan, expertise and edge with which Quentin Tarantino might film a scene.”
“To press Cinema into the CD player is to invite the band into your room… Long live the Empire: it keeps the home fires burning.”
4.5/5 stars

“Whenever I hear the words ‘Cat Empire’ I immediately picture a sizeable horn session,

4-1/2 stars
LIKE a classic auteur, the Cat Empire has created a style inimitably its own, a kind of 3-D party pop with a potpourri of world and roots influences. The character of every song on the band’s aptly named new studio album is explored with the same elan,

Monday, June 7, 2010

Due to crewing and production issues, THE CAT EMPIRE are moving venues for their show on August 28 – from the Brisbane Riverstage to The Tivoli. The band will honour tickets already sold to The Riverstage. So, if you are holding a Riverstage ticket, just bring that along and you will be welcomed at The Tivoli on the same night.
The band apologies for any inconvenience caused by this change of venue, but guarantee a brilliant night at The Tivoli.

FEELINGS GONE New Single From CINEMA

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

We are Super excited to be letting the next track out of the bag…

FEELING’S GONE is the second track from our new album which we have made public in any way (Beyond all is still available for free download on our website). Actually, we did make the whole album pretty public by accident for about 24 hours when we left a burn of it in a cd player of a hire car a couple of weeks ago. WOOPS – happy to report, its back with us (thanks to a guy called James), and no harm done. We WON’T do that again!
